Creamy Caramel Iced Coffee

  • Author: Kevin
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A quick and easy homemade iced coffee drink featuring a rich caramel sauce made from real butter and brown sugar, perfect for a refreshing and indulgent coffee treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • ½ cup (120 ml) milk or cream (whole milk recommended; almond, oat, or coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • 2 tablespoons (25 grams) packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (14 grams) unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Brew about 1 cup (240 ml) of strong coffee using your preferred method and let it cool to room temperature or chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon (14 grams) of unsalted butter.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons (25 grams) of packed brown sugar to the melted butter and stir constantly with a spoon or whisk as it melts and bubbles for about 3-4 minutes until thick and glossy.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  5. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the cooled coffee over the ice, then slowly add ½ cup (120 ml) of milk or your preferred dairy alternative.
  7. Pour the homemade caramel sauce over the milk and coffee mixture, allowing caramel ribbons to form.
  8. Gently stir just enough to blend the caramel without losing the layered look, or mix fully if preferred.
  9. Optional: Top with whipped cream or an extra caramel drizzle.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use freshly brewed strong coffee and chill it properly to avoid watered-down iced coffee. Stir caramel constantly over moderate heat to prevent burning. Caramel sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week; warm gently before use. Customize sweetness and milk type to taste. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut oil or vegan butter and use plant-based milk.
