Description
A hearty and comforting one-pan pie combining juicy ground beef, melted cheese, and a flaky crust, perfect for easy weeknight dinners or potlucks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef, preferably 80/20
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
- 1 store-bought 9-inch (23 cm) pie crust, pre-rolled
- 1/4 cup (60ml) ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter for sautéing
- Optional add-ins: pickles, diced tomatoes, or sautéed mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Cook for 3-4 minutes until onions are translucent and fragrant.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Cook another 2 minutes to meld flavors.
- Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish or oven-safe skillet, pressing gently to fit the edges.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella evenly over the crust. Spread the beef mixture evenly on top. Finish with the remaining cheese layered over the beef.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Let the pie rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
If crust browns too fast, cover edges with foil halfway through baking. Chill pie crust before assembly to prevent sogginess. Let pie rest after baking for easier slicing. Use a mix of cheddar and mozzarella for best flavor and meltiness. Drain excess fat after cooking beef to avoid greasiness.
